Dr. Gilbert Birdsall University of Georgia Veterinary College College Education: VPI & SU, Biology
Dr. Birdsall has been in practice for many years. He still enjoys helping people with their pets in their time of need. Medicine is changing fast, and he is delighted that he is able to continue learning about new techniques in order to bring the best care to his clients. His clients, who call him Dr. Gilbert, are now his friends, and he looks forward to seeing them as they come to him for help. Dr. Gilbert has been married to his wife, Mary Helen, for 44 years. They have 3 married daughters, 7 grandchildren, and 1 cat, Duke. In his spare time, Dr. Gilbert enjoys sailing, kayaking, swimming, and tinkering with antique tractors. He sings in the Ware Episcopal Church choir and is a member of the Gloucester Rotary Club where he is a Paul Harris Fellow. The Rotary Club sponsors a Rabies Clinic every fall and Dr. Birdsall donates his time vaccinating all of the pets. | | | Dr. Robert George University of Georgia Veterinary College College Education: University of Maryland
Dr. George is our resident aquatics specialist. He spends one week monthly in Myrtle Beach, SC and Gatlinburg, TN, attending to the Ripley’s Aquariums. He is also the staff veterinarian at the Virginia Aquarium in Virginia Beach. It’s not unusual to spot a sea turtle, harbor seal, or other marine life coming through the doors at Gloucester Veterinary Hospital seeking Dr. George’s care. He enjoys life on the river in Mathews, with his wife, Sharon. Dr. George has raised two children in Gloucester and Mathews where he served as a scoutmaster and coached parks and recreation softball. | | | Dr. Jacque Schuder Virginia-Maryland Regional College of Veterinary Medicine College Education: Mary Washington College, Environmental Science
Dr. Schuder began her veterinary career at Gloucester Veterinary Hospital, and has remained ever since. Pictured here with her newest addition, Scallop, Dr. Schuder also has 2 other dogs, Wake and Tanqueray. Her feline friends are Mako and Mercury. She also has a bird named Cedar. During time away from the clinic, Dr. Schuder enjoys gardening and water activities. Dr. Sam has been a veterinarian at Gloucester Veterinary Hospital ever since her graduation from veterinary school in 2000. She chose to settle in Gloucester due to its small town atmosphere and to remain close to family ties in the Richmond and Newport News areas. Pictured are her new dog, Fuzzy (left) and her average brown dog , Skyler (right). She also has a black cat- Little Man. Dr. Sam enjoys spending time with her husband, Stephen, and her 3 children. Dr. Amy, the most recent doctor to join the Gloucester Veterinary family, is a native of Perry, KY. She currently resides in Gloucester Courthouse with her Scottish Terrier-Baxter, Chesapeake Bay Retriever-Cleo, and her 2 cats-Anna and Falcon. She has a passion for and an involvement in Veterinary Missionary work extending as far as Mexico and Honduras as well as the USA. She is actively involved with Ebenezer Baptist Church. She is also a member of the Gloucester County Citizen Emergency Response Team. Her veterinary interests include ultrasound, preventative medicine, and surgery. Although she has lived here for only a short time, she thoroughly enjoys working and living in beautiful Gloucester, Va. |
