My Dog Ate What????

There really is no end to what our pets will eat...rocks, shoes, socks and hats are of the more common foreign bodies that pets will choose to munch on.  However, occasionally we see something a little more interesting...

This is the story of "Peaches", a 3-year old Golden Retriever.  It seems as though every good story begins with a Golden...just kidding!  "Peaches" presented to Gloucester Veterinary Hospital because the owners noticed she acted like it was difficult for her to swallow.  That was a understatement!  Check out her x-rays...

needle

You guessed it!  "Peaches" has swallowed a needle.  Apparently "Peaches" mom is an avid sewer and "Peaches" decided to help.

Due to the fact that the needle had perforated to esophagus, she was transfered to a referral center in Richmond, where a board certified surgeon removed the needle and repaired the tear in her esophagus.

"Peaches" had a fairly uneventful recovery and she was back to her old tricks in no time!  Stay tuned for another chapter of "My Dog Ate What??"...
